This technique, also known as \"onion ring,\u201d instantly makes your tatting more interesting and distinctive, while being very quick and easy to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you tat two rings one after the other without joining them together, they naturally end up opposite each other. Which makes perfect sense: the thread connecting the rings doesn\u2019t want to work too hard\u2014it simply wants to lie straight from the exit of one ring to the entrance of the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We can make the rings lie next to each other by joining them together. join<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a similar way, we can also persuade one ring to settle comfortably inside another ring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Preparation<\/strong>
First, tat a ring with 20 double stitches, but do not close it completely. Leave 1\u20132 mm of the core thread visible. Immediately after that, tat a ring with 8 double stitches.\n

How Is a Ring Within a Ring Shown in Tatting Patterns?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Since the ring-within-a-ring technique is not familiar to everyone, I do not abbreviate it in written patterns. Instead, I describe it in full sentences.\n
\n\nIn diagrams, the technique can be shown as circles or teardrop shapes nested inside one another. Each circle represents a ring. However, this notation can be confused with other techniques, such as double picots or double chains\/arcs. <\/p>\n\n\n
